Our Vision
GEECI has a vision of a Nigeria where people consciously protect the environment for the present and future generations.
Our Mission
Our vision drives our mission to promote environmental literacy, protect the environment using nature-based solutions, promote sustainable use of natural resources, and advocate for climate justice.
Our Belief
GECCI believes in singing the songs of nature in the ears of the people so that in doing the actual work, we dance to the tune of the environment.
The Green Action Pathway (GAP) Project will be in five phases. They include:
1. Formation of the environmental club, design and printing of environmental education manual and activity booklet for the implementation and intensive teaching on the forest, climate change, ecosystem restoration, and raising of a nursery in secondary schools because there is an urgent need to restore not only the ecosystem but also create a society-nature relationship.
2. Green Environment and Climate Change Initiative (GECCI) would provide mentors for students in the areas of solar system production and installation, waste to wealth (turning tires into tables, bottles into flower vases, plastics into bricks, etc.,) and artist (for the student interested in drawing for the environment as a means of climate awareness and representation), etc.
3. A 3-day annual event/boot camp organized for the students. In this boot camp, students from different schools/states would compete in essays, quizzes, debates, spelling bees and presentations of their school's innovative solutions to climate action. The winners would win a prize to implement their school's innovative idea and solution to addressing climate change and a trip to a nature conservation area in Nigeria like the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos, Nigeria.
4. Teachers or Club facilitators training
5. A Green Hangout would be organized for Youth in the communities. This event would bring the youth of the communities together to learn about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. It would feature guest speakers and DIY recycled crafts.
